Indigenous Peoples Positive Gathering – Getting to Zero

Overview:
Indigenous People living with HIV are invited to attend a gathering of nations to learn from each other in terms of our responses to HIV and AIDS from our communities. The afternoon will be facilitated by Indigenous poz people, be informal in its structure, promote broader International dialogue with the outcomes presented to the International Indigenous Pre conference Program held on the following two days.  Cost: Free and light refreshments will be provided during the afternoon.

Indigenous Youth Meet Up – Arts and Activism

Overview:
The theme for this exciting community event is Arts and Activism! The program includes a panel of international and national speakers, interactive activities, and opportunities to yarn and network.  This event will also be the formation of ANTHYM – Aboriginal Nations Torres Strait Islander HIV Youth Mob. Be a part of Australia’s first Indigenous youth network around sexual health! All Indigenous young people (18 – 26 years) are invited to this event.  Cost: Free

Welcome Reception

The Welcome Reception will include the Opening of the Conference, Welcome to country and country responses. The evening will also showcase a Traditional Aboriginal Dance Performance and Torres Strait Islander Dance Performance by Descendance, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Theatre.

Set sail on a journey to discover the stories of the Eora, Cadigal, Guringai, Wangal, Gammeraigal and Wallumedegal people. Learn the Aboriginal names and meanings of significant Sydney landmarks.

This is the traditional Cultural Exchange Event held as part of this pre-conference. There will be an opportunity for guests to perform their traditional dancers for others from all around the world. If you would like to perform please contact the conference secretariat.
